Nier: Yoko Taro jokes about the end of the series

In a video dedicated to happy holidays, Yoko Taro and two other important figures behind Nier talk about what characterized the year and about the future that awaits the series, joking about its end

We are now celebrating the most important holidays that come at the end of the year, and for the occasion also Yoko Taro, the creator of Nier, wanted dedicate a message of good wishes to the fans along with two key members of the development team who have accompanied him all these years. In the video released on Twitter it is possible to see the director together with the producer Tosuke Saito and the composer Keiichi Okabe. The legendary trio, however, is not reduced to a mere wish for happy holidays, deciding to make some funny jokes about their background and what awaits them in the future.

Yoko Taro declares the end of Nier

The dynamic of the video is carried on by the producer, recalling how Nier was first launched 11 years ago. After these statements, both Yoko Taro and Keiichi Okabe they feel the weight of advancing age, since each of them has now reached or exceeded fifty years. While the series’ tenth anniversary was celebrated last year, unfortunately the pandemic made it very difficult to organize the concerts planned for the event, and the studio therefore turned to a live stream lasting a good ten hours. Still, this hasn’t stopped Nier Replicant from achieving huge success among gamers, reaching more than one million sales. And this is where Saito poses an important question to Yoko Taro and Keiichi Okabe, asking if they are planning to do something new with Nier.

Yoko Taro declares an explicit “no, nothing”, officially announcing the end of Nier. Saito, however, is quite certain how this statement is will find itself with being a lie, and therefore the director corrects his statement, saying how he could do something more in case he gets a lot of money. However, Saito is more than willing. After briefly talking about what Okabe and Taro want for Christmas (the first wants to heal their pain in the back, the second to become a kind person), the director then reveals how in the video a mysterious message is hidden, and those who find out will win half of the content in Saito’s bank account (that’s a lie). This footage is then concluded with a wish on the part of composer Okabe, who wishes he could soon do a Nier World Tour to meet fans from all over the world.
