In the world of wireless earphones, the Nothing’s transparent design stands out from the crowd. After the success of Ear (1), the startup founded by Carl Pei today launched its new earphones: the Ear (2). It is an improved and refined version compared to the first generation, both in audio and in functionality, even if Nothing for the Ear (2) had to raise the price.
Nothing Ear (2), price and features
Carl Pei, CEO and Co-founder of Nothing, announced the new earphones in an event that was also streamed worldwide. “We are thrilled to introduce the Ear (2), the earphones are an update to our debut product, the Ear (1), which has sold over 600,000 units. With the Ears (2) we redesigned everything from the ground up and used cutting-edge technology to create a world-class audio experience.”
The Ears (2) keep the transparent case that reveals the internal components and the long and thin stem of the previous generation. However, by changing the location of the noise canceling microphone, which is now on the side instead of the top of the headset. Even the charging case is slightly smaller and more compact.
But the most interesting news concerns the audio performance. The Ears (2) are certified Hi-Res Audio and support LHDC 5.0 codec. Also, users can create the own sound profile by completing a hearing test using the Nothing X appwhich adjusts the equalizer settings to suit your personal preferences.
The earphones come with a custom 11.6mm driver which delivers powerful bass and clear highs, while the new dual-chamber design improves overall sound quality with smoother airflow. There active noise cancellation is customizable and conforms to the shape of the ear canal, providing effective isolation from noisy environments. It reaches up to 40db.
Smart functions
The Ears (2) also have other smart features, such as technology Dual Connection that allows you to easily switch from one device to another, the technology Clear Voice which improves call quality even in windy or crowded conditions and assignable touch controls via the Nothing X app. Easily connect to Android devices with Fast Pair e Windowscon Swift Pair and have a Low Lag mode for gaming.
The earphone battery lasts up to 6 hours on a single charge and up to 36 hours with the case. Which supports fast USB-C charging (8 hours of music with ten minutes) and Qi wireless charging, even with reverse charging from the Phone (1).
Also interesting is the IP54 certification to resist sweat and dust, with the charging case having the IP55 rating.
Price and availability
The purchase price of the Ear (2) is €149 and will be available from March 22 on the nothing.tech site. From the March 28arrive in all stores, online and offline.
