Oppo Reno 10 Pro premiered on July 4, 2023. Which means it’s been a little over 4 years since this series debuted.
Four years, we are at series ten, we have skipped a few issues… but we can still say that it is a series that evolves very quickly, and with a rather clear objective: offer top-of-the-range functions on smartphones that cost significantly less.
However, we are in the medium-high range of the market given that you need this Oppo Reno 10 Pro to bring you home 649,99 € but we believe they are amply justified. Not a few but less than last year given that Reno 8 Pro cost €799 at launch.
But, apart from the price, what has changed?
The Oppo Reno 10 Pro review
The first thing that catches your eye, at least if you have seen the previous generation, is the decisive aesthetic change.
The design has been totally revised and personally we prefer it to that of the Reno 8 Pro: the camera module is a little less bulky although protruding, the lines are softer and more rounded and the display is now curved.
It is a premium and ergonomic smartphone to the touch, with an appreciable choice of materials given that we have glass and metal everywhere.
The photographic sector
Ok, the design but it’s right to understand what changes under the hood. What makes Oppo Reno 10 Pro better than Reno 8 Pro?
Let’s start with the camera because here we find an important news: the telephoto lens with a 32 megapixel Sony IMX709 sensor created for portraits.
Stop everyone: telephoto? Portraits? What is the connection?
The 2X optical zoom is the equivalent of a 47mm. And the 47 mm is very close to the 50 mm, the lens that most resembles what we human beings see with our eyes. This means we can take home photos that are natural and without distortion.
As you can see, the telephoto lens gives us a truly top-of-the-range bokehespecially at 2x where the blur looks very naturalwith realistic colors and the preservation of many details.
We have then a 50 megapixel main sensor e an 8 megapixel ultra-wide angle lens.
The first one performs very well, with lots of details, sharp shots and good color management. You see that everything remains very natural, without software that saturates everything excessively so as not to make everything artificial.
The ultra-wide angle isn’t bad either, although with 8 megapixels we definitely lose something compared to the main sensor.
Performance and battery
The differences with the previous generation are obviously not over.
The hardware is also different. This time the processor is a Snapdragon 778G supported by 12 GB of RAM and Android 13.
It is not the most recent Qualcomm processor, in fact it has a couple of years behind it, but Oppo rightly had to find a way to contain costs in order to propose a Reno 10 Pro that was positioned at a lower price than its predecessor. Let’s then consider that it is true that this processor is not super recent but it is also true that the performance is excellent. We’ve done a bit of everything with it, including gaming. This is also thanks to the heat dissipation system which has been carefully designed allowing the smartphone to practically never heat.
The software is promoted as always: complete, personalized, fluid.
We only report a perhaps slightly excessive quantity of pre-installed games which we promptly eliminated.
Finally, we cannot fail to talk about 4,600 mAh battery. How does he behave? Actually good. We were never left stranded in the middle of the day. He does his 5 hours of screen time quite peacefully. The real plus, however, is the 80W SuperVOOC: fill up with energy in 30 minutes, even less, and you’re ready to get back on track.
Display
Oppo Reno 10 Pro shows off a 6.7-inch AMOLED with FullHD+ resolutionupdate frequency a 120 Hz and a peak brightness of 950 nits. We have support for DCI-P3 color space and HDR10+.
Confused by acronyms and numbers? We translate all this into simple and understandable information: the screen behaves very well. Under the sun we have never had any problems, the vision of the contents is perfect, the consultation of the texts is easy… In short, it does everything and it does it very well.
There is more under the display a great fingerprint sensor for unlocking or, alternatively, you can always count on 2D face unlocking. They are both reactive but we remind you that the imprint is by its nature safer.
The Oppo Reno 10 Pro review: conclusions
There is one thing I want to say: specifications in hand Oppo Reno 10 Pro is not surprising, no more than other Oppo devices in the same range, But using it in real life is another matter. Immediately. As soon as you take it out of the box you feel like it’s in your hands a truly premium product. And then it is comfortable in daily use, it does everything you ask of it and it has a photographic sector that is certainly interesting as well as quite varied.
We found it absolutely satisfactory.
