Blizzard Entertainment has announced great news for fans of Overwatch 2: starting from August the game will be available also on Steamthe popular digital distribution platform for PC.
“We want to break down barriers for new and veteran Overwatch 2 players, giving them more options and flexibility,” Blizzard said in a press release. This move is therefore part of a strategy to make the game more accessible and engage a larger audience.
Overwatch 2: from August 10 also on Steam
Overwatch 2 is the sequel to the famous hero shooter that pits two teams of six players against each other in different modes and maps. PC play was previously exclusive to Battle.net, Blizzard’s proprietary service, but from August 10 it will be possible to buy and download it also from Steam.
Players who choose Steam will be able to take advantage of all the platform’s features (such as achievements, friends list and invitations to join games). However, however, it will be necessary to create and link a Battle.net account in order to play and take advantage of cross play with other platforms.
The Invasion expansion is also coming
The launch on Steam on August 10 will coincide with that of the new expansion Invasion, which will add new content for both cooperative and competitive modes. Invasion will introduce three new campaign missions, set in Rio de Janeiro, Toronto and Gothenburg. Additionally, there will be a new PvP mode and a new Mystery Hero joining the Overwatch 2 roster.
Invasion will be available from August 10 for all owners of the game, regardless of the chosen platform.
