The day has come. Overwatch 2 launched Season 4 today, April 11, 2023, with lots of news for fans of the Blizzard-branded game. Among these stands out the arrival of a new hero, Lifeweaverwho uses biolight to heal and protect her allies.
From his backstory we learn that Lifeweaver is a Thai scientist who has developed a technology that can manipulate light and life. His ultimate ability, Tree of Life, creates a glowing orb that regenerates and shields teammates within it. Lifeweaver can also pull an ally in danger with his biolight harpoon or create a flying platform to reach high positions.
Overwatch 2: the news of Season 4
Season 4 also introduces a new map call Talantis. This is inspired by the mythical sunken city of Atlantis, of which it is the anagram (Atlantis). Talantis was designed in collaboration with the Twitch community during a special live stream. The map features unique elements such as death pits, trampolines, and giant fish. The new map will be available in the Arcade from April 25th to May 1st.
If maps and heroes don’t seem like enough, know that Season 4 of Overwatch 2 also brings with it a series of limited-time events. Among these we point out BOB e Weave, Starwatch: Galactic Rescue e Battle for Olympus. These events allow players to unlock exclusive space-themed cosmetics (such as the Galactic Emperor Sigma skin or the Starwatch Mercy skin). Season 4 also features the first Overwatch 2 Pride event, celebrating inclusivity with special rainbow-themed items and weekly challenges.
Finally, there are also changes to the balancing of the heroes, including a rework of the ultimate ability of Brigitte. Now called Rally, this skill increases allies’ movement speed instead of providing armor. In addition, matchmaking and the competitive experience have been improved, with the introduction of a new ranked team mode and a tougher penalty system for toxic players.
