PayPal takes sides against Russia announcing the stop to registrations for new users of the country. It should also be noted that the popular payment service also confirmed that it had blocked some accounts and stopped partnerships with major Russian banks. PayPal complies with the sanctions by drastically reducing its service for Russian users.
PayPal blocks the registrations of new users in Russia
The choice of PayPal follows those initiated by other companies of digital payments and, more generally, is part of the long series of sanctions arrived against Russia after the invasion of Ukraine. For the moment, therefore, Russian users do not have the possibility to register new accounts with PayPal. The already active accounts, at the momentcan continue to be usedi by their respective owners even if of Russian nationality.
Sanctions are multiplying
For Russia, the sanctions do not stop with what was announced by PayPal. Also Visa, Mastercard e American Express have joined the sanctions. At the same time, it is also no longer possible to use Apple Pay e Google Pay. Many Russian banks have been excluded from the payment system SWIFT. In the meantime, however, Russia already has alternative solutions at its disposal in this regard. We will see if, in the next few days, more sanctions will arrive against Russia with the aim of completely blocking its economy.
