PlayStation testa il cloud gaming, in arrivo i giochi in streaming ma solo su PS5 thumbnail

PlayStation tests cloud gaming, streaming games are coming but only on PS5

A year ago, Sony revolutionized its subscription service PlayStation Plus, making it richer and more attractive for its users. Of course, more than a revolution it was a due move, to counter the competition from Xbox Game Pass. However, the success has been such that now the Japanese company wants to go further: to offer its subscribers the possibility of stream games to PlayStation, without having to download them to the consolejust as it already happens with the cloud gaming of Game Pass.

The announcement has arrived in these hours on the official blog of Sony, where Nick Maguirevice president of services for Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Global Sales and Business Operations, explained that the feature it is still in the testing phase and will be available soon.

“When this feature launches, players with a PlayStation 5 console will be able to stream games directly from the console and without any downloads,” Maguire wrote in the post.

What we know about PlayStation Plus cloud gaming

While Sony doesn’t tell us when the feature will be available, we do know that this will be an exclusive for PlayStation Plus users subscribed to the Premium plan. Also, as mentioned, streaming games will only be available on PlayStation 5 consoles.

Cloud gaming brings several benefits to gamers. First of all it allows you to save physical space on the consoleas all games are streamed. Also players can try a title in the catalog immediatelywithout having to wait for download and installation times, especially useful if you find a game that seems interesting and you want to try it to dispel any doubts.

Obviously the streaming game requires a good internet connection, possibly wired, to avoid drops in fps and general quality.

With this novelty, PlayStation Plus takes another step towards Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft’s subscription service for PC and Xbox that already allows its users to stream games to any title on the platform, and which could soon extend this possibility to whatever game was purchased digitally. We don’t yet know when PlayStation 5 cloud gaming will arrive, but we do know that the video game industry is becoming more and more of a huge Netflix.
