Samsung Electronics e Naver have joined forces to present a new artificial intelligence (AI) chip. This AI semiconductor developed in collaboration, it boasts energy efficiency designed to compete with and surpass that of chips Nvidiapromising to fuel the project on a large scale HyperCLOVA X on Naver.
Samsung and Naver, the new AI chip competes with Nvidia
The AI semiconductor, presented in the form of FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array), allows changes in design. This specific chip is optimized for the process inferencethat phase in which logical results are generated using new data after a model of artificial intelligence has completed the process learning.
A notable feature of this new chip is its energy efficiencyobtained thanks to the integration of a DRAM LPDDR compact and low consumption. This improvement allows the carrying out of large-scale computational activities at significantly lower costs.
Il Ministry of Science and ICT introduced the Progetto K-Clouddesigned to develop Domestic AI semiconductors in Korea with high speed and low consumption for application in data center. The project involves the improvement of Domestic AI semiconductors in three phases by 2030. The objective is to integrate aneural processing unit (NPU) national data centers and the provision of services Cloud-based AI.
This project between Korean companies is already bearing the first fruits. The companies involved in the first phase of the project presented various innovative solutions, such as a intelligent traffic control service to identify vehicles and pedestrians in CCTV footage of pedestrian crossings, a system for calculating thenutritional intake and technology to identify workers and measure the risk levels using CCTV footage of construction sites. These initiatives represent a significant step towards developing solutions Advanced AI for practical applications in various industries.
