We could carry the next Samsung-branded technology on our fingers: it seems that the South Korean company would be ready to launch an intelligent ring, the new Samsung Galaxy Ring.
Samsung Galaxy Ring, the company ready to launch a smart ring
According to Android Authority reports, Samsung filed several patents for the device in 2022. In addition, the company allegedly trademarked Samsung Galaxy Ring at the Korean Intellectual Property Rights Information Service (KIPRIS).
The experience of a screenless device attracts many users who want to monitor their activities without distractions. But the uncertainties are many: it would be the first product of this type for the company.
To compete with existing smart rings, the company will need to have the device ready before launch — which likely won’t arrive until late 2023.
The features that cannot be missed are basic health monitoring and acceptable battery life – there is little space for the battery, but without a screen the autonomy can go up a lot compared to a smartwatch.
The Galaxy Ring may have advanced health sensors like the heart rate and temperature monitoring. Other similar products also offer sleep tracking and other health features – all in a slim and small design. But also smart features like NFC for payments.
However, it is not said that all the features will be ready for the first generation: we should wait for further rumors to understand what to expect.
