Samsung’s is a story of connectivity. From the first 2G connections, to the present of 5G to the future, which is already at the gates of 6G. Here’s how the brand celebrates 30 years of activity in Italy.
Samsung celebrates 30 years of activity in Italy
The one of Samsung Electronics it is a story that has lasted in Italy for 30 years. A brand that has always been synonymous with technological innovation. A reality that, with its solutions, has paved the way for the successful supply of infrastrutture end-to-end 5G including chipset, radio and core. Turning 30 means taking stock of the past, but also looking forward to avant-garde solutions, which can increasingly improve the user experience of mobile devices.
At the moment the reference standard is that represented by 5G, which promises a further revolution by expanding the band up to 20 times. This transition to a higher network speed will allow not only the improvement of existing services, such as the use of high definition content through smartphones, but will also allow the birth of new services, which in addition to exploiting the peculiarities of 5G will also use reality augmented and virtual. Among others, online multiplayer gaming, infrastructure monitoring and telemedicine services will also be affected by the positive changes introduced by a faster and more robust network.
The Korean company is strongly committed to delivering the best 5G experience to as many users as possible. It has, in fact, led the migration to new network technologies with the widest range of 5G devices since the launch in 2019 of the Galaxy S10 5G, the first Samsung smartphone to support this technology. In recent years, a comprehensive portfolio of 5G Galaxy mobiles has been introduced, from mid-range devices such as Galaxy A52 5G, at the top of the range of the series Galaxy S21 5G, up to revolutionary products such as leaflets Galaxy Z Flip3 5G e Galaxy Z Fold3 5G, unveiled recently. Of the latter two, in particular, we had talked to you here.
The future is in 6G
Samsung’s pioneering approach leads the brand to have an already important and concrete look at it rete 6G. Shaping this type of network will take several years, in line with what has already happened in the past. However, the company is already identifying trends, services and requirements necessary for the standardization and commercialization of 6G, such as the possibility of aiming for a download peak of 1,000 Gbps, with decreased latency, also providing the possibility of maintaining connections even with moving objects, up to one speed of 500 kilometers per hour.
These new possibilities for improving infrastructures and, consequently, the services offered, represent a particularly interesting proposal for consumers. To highlight this is also a study of5G & Beyond Observatory of the Politecnico di Milano. Expectations towards the new 5G-enabled services focus in particular on data transfer rate both in download and upload. This collects 72% of preferences, alongside the possibility of working more easily remotely (38%) and viewing videos in 4K (30%). Home automation (25%) and online gaming (23%) are also affected by consumer expectations regarding the new features enabled by the network.
On the other hand, by investigating the objects with which consumers are most interested in discovering the new applications possible thanks to 5G, the smart home devices (55%), followed by the connected car (37%), together with futuristic devices such as augmented and virtual reality viewers (30%) and drones (13%); then there is no shortage of wearable devices for sport and wellness (27%).
