Incredible news for fans of podcast your Spotify. Apparently, the music streaming platform is testing a new vertical “Newsfeed” audio – TikTok style – to improve podcast findability. A novelty anticipated by TechCrunch, which we went to deepen for you.
Podcast: Spotify improves findability with a new Feed
Good news for podcast lovers. Spotify is testing a new Feed on the platform, in order to improve its availability for users. Apparently, the updated design will introduce users 60 second audio clips of the shows available on the platform in a vertically scrolling feed. To satisfy the listeners, this takes advantage of a machine learning model who has been trained on 100,000 hours of audio, so as to allow him to independently select the clips to show. In this regard, Spotify itself has stated that the function is based on the technology acquired with Podz last summer.
The startup created the “Audio Newsfeed” to solve the problem of podcast availability on Spotify using a vertical scrolling format, in the style of TikTok. And now, months later, the platform has decided to test the update. In countries where the feature is being tested, users can access the vertical feed from the “Podcast” button. By tapping it, they have the option to view a show’s cover art while the associated audio clip is playing. Indeed, in order not to miss anything, the words of the clip appear on the smartphone screen, so as to allow anyone to follow the preview of the podcast.
So, if what you are listening to interests you, that’s enough click the play button to access the entire podcast. By clicking on the + icon, instead, you can add the episode to the “Your episodes” section. In short, everything seems to have been designed to help you find the podcast that best suits your tastes. And this only means one thing: Spotify is focusing a lot on this type of content.
