From today, The Game Awards 2022 have an official date: December 8, 2022. The event, one of the most important of the year for the gaming industry, will be staged at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. To announce it is the same Geoff Keighleycreator of the initiative in 2014, which annually hosts the show.
Based on what has happened in previous years, we can expect one live streaming on the official channels of the initiative.
New at The Game Awards 2022: the Best Adaptation category
However, the official date is not the only noteworthy announcement. Keighley himself has in fact revealed that the 2022 edition – the ninth of the event – will be characterized by the presence of a new category, which will award an unprecedented prize. Let’s talk about the named statuette “Best Adaptation”. This will celebrate the best transposition of a videogame in other multimedia formats (therefore TV series and cinema).
The 2021 edition had awarded It Takes Two as Game of the Year, as well as Best Family Game and Best Multiplayer Experience of 2021, bringing the game to the conquest of three different awards. Also last year Deathloop triumphed in the Best Game Direction and Best Art Direction categories, while Metroid Dread took home the Best Action / Adventure award.
