The Fund for the fight against Cyberbullying comes to life
Will 2 million euros be enough to fight cyberbullying and protect young victims in Italy? We don’t know but these are the resources provided by an amendment to the maneuver resulting from an agreement between the government and the majority. The funds, valid only for 2022, will serve to counter cyberbullying on all fronts, protecting the victims. Part of the funds will be used for prevention and education activities.
The comment
Licia Ronzulli, chairman of the parliamentary commission for childhood and adolescence, commented on the creation of the fund as follows: “This is excellent news. In this way it will be possible to deal with a phenomenon that unfortunately involves thousands of minors who are harassed daily by their peers, given the pervasiveness of the web, even at home, where instead they should feel more protected “
Ronzulli also underlines what will be the way to fight the phenomenon: “The first weapon against cyberbullying is prevention and for this to have an effect it is essential that, just as the establishment of this Fund is proposed, parents, teachers and associations are adequately trained and therefore able to recognize this serious form of child abuse “
