The Game Awards 2021: expected announcement “in the works for two and a half years”

The toto-announcement starts: one of the “world premieres” of The Game Awards 2021 has apparently been in the making for no less than two and a half years

We’re almost there: next week we will have the opportunity to celebrate the best of the gaming industry with The Game Awards 2021, and this also means new ads. There will be many, and the creator of the ceremony Geoff Keighley has already promised a figure between 40 and 50 games. As is tradition, Keighley (who in addition to organizing the event will preside over it) has already promised some “excellent” surprises. One of these, apparently, has been in the works since two years and a half (or, for those who prefer another unit of measurement, for thirty months). The confirmation comes from a tweet, which as always we will report here.

Thirty months of gestation for The Game Awards 2021

In a post by Geoff Keighley on Twitter, the videogame star stated that he had “just seen the final version of a world premiere for The Game Awards 2021”. This ad is part of a cooperation with a development team for two and a half years. Being “commissioned” to share the announcement with the global audience is “a real honor” for Keighley. Although it seems like an eternity has passed, for Keighley the summer of 2019 represented “the last global tour to visit the development teams. It’s always fun to do it and see their projects, and I hope to do it again in 2022 ”.

Of course, the hunt for tweet interpretation is already on. The question on everyone’s lips is: “What games could be in development from 2019 without being revealed so far?”. A plausible answer is given by the new BioShock, at the center of a rumor that has seen it in development since 2017 and was described as being in the latter stages of production in a job offer last year. Another hypothesis, although less “multiplatform” than the first, concerns the continuation of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild, whose final title is still at the center of an unnerving aura of mystery. We will know more about it December 10 (next Friday) at two in the morning, Italian time.
