Synology and partner Soft System srl developed the museum’s IT infrastructure PAFF! International Museum of Comic Art of Pordenone, an innovative museum that uses comics to disseminate culture, training, education, teaching, research and entertainment since 2018.
Supported by the Autonomous Region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and the Municipality of Pordenone, PAFF! it has achieved international fame thanks to the quality of its productions and the authority of the artists involved. It is the first museum of its kind in Italy and among the few in Europe with a permanent exhibition dedicated to comics.
The new IT infrastructure of the PAFF museum!
Before relying on Synology and Soft System srl, PAFF! it did not have an organized network. The Museum managed the files with synchronization software without effective control over the data or its security. This carried the risk of losing important information. For this reason Synology e Soft System srl have reorganized the Museum’s IT infrastructure, allowing controlled access to files via the web or via the network to all authorized workstations and ensuring effectiveness and security.
Soft System srl and Synology have created a customized solution based on 2 hosts and two powerful RS1221+ in the same rack cabinet, coupled with Synology High Availability. They then installed a third RS1221+ in another rack cabinet to ensure backup of all documents saved in the first cluster. Hosts synchronized in Synology High Availability in pairs, thus ensuring business continuity even in the event of a failure of one of the machines. Synology High Availability used the capacity of two Synology NAS for maximize service uptime. With the cluster design, the active server ran all services and synchronized data to the passive server, which stood by and took over services when the active server was unavailable.
