Il Guarantor for the Protection of Personal Data (GPDP) announced a European task force to discuss the ChatGPT issue. We remind you that the AI chatbot developed by OpenAi is currently inaccessible from Italy following the concerns raised by the Guarantor in the processing of personal data.
The provision of the Guarantor required OpenAI to “prepare and make available on its website transparent information, which explains the methods and logic underlying the processing of data necessary for the functioning of ChatGPT as well as the rights attributed to users and non-user interested parties “.

Below is the text of the Guarantor’s announcement, available on the official website.
“Following the provision for the temporary limitation of processing, adopted by the Guarantor for the protection of personal data on 30 March against ChatGPT, managed by the US company OpenAI, the European privacy Guarantors, meeting in the European Data Protection Committee (EDPB), have decided to launch a task force on ChatGPT.
The objective of the task force is to promote cooperation and the exchange of information on possible initiatives for the application of the European Regulation conducted by the Data Protection Authorities.
Yesterday, after a series of interlocutions with the representatives of OpenAI, the Italian Guarantor indicated some requirements on transparency, rights of the interested parties and legal basis of the processing carried out by ChatGPT, to be fulfilled by 30 April 2023″.
Meanwhile, after the lockdown in Italy, PizzGPT was created, an all-Italian alternative to the popular OpenAi chatbot.
