Reddit faces user outcry and hacker threats
Not a good time for Reddit. The BlackCat hacker group requested the company a $4.5 million ransomi to avoid the publication of 80 GB of data stolen in the cyber attack that took place last February. Hackers added one more request: l‘undo API pricing changes which continues to be debated.
In addition to the threats of hackers, in fact, Reddit has to deal with user complaints, who have not accepted the API pricing change. Several communities have gone private while others have launched a series of “unusual” protests, as you can read at the link below. The situation, therefore, continues to be complicated.
Updates will undoubtedly arrive on the matter even if Reddit has made it clear that it does not intend to take a step back. The matter of paid APIs may not find a solution, with user protests destined to hit a brick wall.
