“Whether we talk about it badly or we talk about it well, the important thing is that we talk about it”, says an old and overused motto in the world of marketing. And of Palworld there’s a lot of talk about it, given that it is hands down the game of the moment. And it doesn’t matter if the game’s inspiration is clearly Pokemon-inspired, to the point that more than one person has already cried plagiarism. And by more than one person we mean everyone who has played it. How many? Many.
Moreover, the game has aroused great curiosity since its announcement, also due to its obvious similarities with the famous franchise of dear Pikachu. Despite the controversy, Palworld is getting an extraordinary success on Steam.
Palworld is one of the most purchased games on Steam (despite being on Game Pass)
The game has indeed reached the second place in the Steam ranking of the most active users for a paid game. The numbers? As many as 1,291,967 players connected in just 24 hours, enough to overcome titles like Cyberpunk 2077 e Counter-Strike. The only game to do better was PUBGwhich however has now become free.
More generally, Palworld has sold over 4 million copies in just 3 days since the release of what, let’s remember, is still an Early Access version. To get an idea of the scale of the phenomenon: games like Street Fighter 6 took a good 6 months to reach 3 million.
An incredible achievement considering the game is included in the Game Pass catalogtherefore being free for subscribers to Microsoft’s gaming service.
