TikTok and horizontal videos like on YouTube
According to what was stated by Matt Navarra, the founder of Geekout Newsletter, on Threads, TikTok wants to encourage video creators to create content in horizontal format, like on YouTube. According to screenshots shared by Navarra, TikTok incentivizes video creators to use the landscape format by rewarding them with more views too over 72 hours from putting the video itself online.
TikTok It became popular as a platform for short-form vertical videos, and that’s how it became famous. YouTube, on the other hand, is known for having long-form horizontal videos. However, last year, TikTok increased the maximum video length to 15 minutes, and earlier this year it began testing maximum video lengths of up to 30 minutes. Now TikTok is also encouraging horizontal videos, following the mold of YouTubeafter YouTube itself adapted to short-term vertical videos, the so-called YouTube Stories.
The conditions imposed by TikTok
Of course, the incentive comes with some conditions. Among these we find the fact that the video should be original content, it should not contain an advertisement, it should not be a political video and the creator should have been registered on TikTok for at least three months.
Why does TikTok want to be like YouTube?
It seems that TikTok wants to be like YouTube, but why this choice? Most likely, the former wants to grab the users of the latter, but this may not be possible, for a very simple reason. TikTok cannot be used in Indiathe most populous country in the world, and YouTube content creators may not want to switch platforms.
