Tinder releases Year in Swipe 2021
Over the course of this year, the first statistic Tinder has detected is the use of the emoji with wide eyes in users’ bio. A 40% increase over last year, where the most used was the shrug emoji. A mixture of “optimism and skepticism” that the dating app has found in its users.
Who this year have you can use the video chat function for the first date. Especially the Gen Z has taken advantage of this feature, with the52% of bio that mention the word “video call”. But the word “close” or “close to” appears in 20% of profiles, a sign that dating in person is not going out of fashion at all. The video chat function, however, undoubtedly serves to increase the safety of the first approach, and then decide whether to continue.
Another change concerns the types of appointments, which are no longer just “to drink / eat something”. The 35% of Italians are looking for something adventurous, 34% want something fun and engaging. Not to mention that “party” is the second most present keyword in bio.
But without forgetting the safety issue. “Green Pass”Appears in fourth place in the bio keywords. And “Covid” and “Lockdown” rank first and second among the most cited key events.
Finally, a musical note. Globally, Gen Z has approached the words and music of good4u by Olivia Rodrigo and STAY, by Kid Laroi & Justin Bieber, who dominate the global ranking (while in Italy Lil Nas X is first with Industry Baby). And music is confirmed as the most shared interest on profiles. But without forgetting our Italian spirit: i Makeskin they are the most mentioned personalities in bio in our country.
