As is now sadly known, harassment and bullying on Twitch are increasingly present on the streaming platform. The company has been trying to ensure its users have a better experience for many months, and now new tools have been added for streamers to help them cope with bots, which are widely used by more toxic users for racist or hateful messages. The problem of bots designed specifically to spam hate messages is now a real stigma for Twitch. This practice is increasingly used, to the point that thethe purple site administration is thinking of various solutions to deal with it. Meanwhile, one of the new tools designed by the platform is already available will allow content creators to request one verify the phone number for all those who intend to make use of the chat.
This security measure can either be imposed on individual users or set as a default function, to prevent determined followers from creating a new profile to continue spamming. In short, a feature designed specifically for when you come across bot, profiles that are created continuously with the sole purpose of producing spam, without any real interaction with other users.
To add further weight to this practice, Twitch has made sure that, if an account is banned in this way, all other profiles linked to that specific phone number are also blocked. This applies both to the channel of the specific content creator, and to the Twitch as a site.
This update comes after an incredibly number of reports from users, as well as in the face of a real strike of the content creators that took place in August.
