In this month of conflict computer scientist against Russiathe hacker collective of Anonymous used several times Twitter to communicate the hits. But according to what was reported by the hackers themselves, the social network would have banned some hacker activists for publishing information on Russian institutions. Despite the alleged censorship of Twitter, Anonymous however assures: “we will go forward“.
Twitter censors Anonymous, which publishes stolen data from Russia
The Twitter account @YourAnonNews, which we consult ourselves to get information on the latest hits of the hacker collective, has launched a news. “There are activist accounts suspended from Twitter due to leaked information about Russia. Twitter is a company based in the United States, it makes no sense to censor our campaigns that aim to target a country responsible for war crimes against Ukraine ”.
The hacker group also pointed out that Russia is also censoring Twitter.
At the moment it does not seem clear which accounts are closed or what information they refer to. Although it seems that it may be the spread of bank details stolen from the Bank of Russia.
Twitter’s decision appears to be motivated by the platform’s own guidelines, updated in light of the conflict in Ukraine. Indeed the recently appointed CEO Parag Agrawal had explained that Twitter will continue to “protect people’s privacy and security” and the leaks in question no doubt fail to meet these assumptions. However, the reasons for the ban in this specific circumstance are not known.
However, the collective does not give up: “Anonymous will continue to destroy the Russian government servers until the Russian troops leave Ukraine”. The network of Twitter accounts linked to the group is such as to make it difficult to silence the publication of news, than with the hashtag #TangoDown indicate a hit.
Cyber war information should therefore continue to arrive smoothly. We will keep you posted.
