Ubisoft has announced that he will no longer participate at the physical edition of E3 2023, the most important gaming fair in the world to be held to move to Los Angeles. Instead, the company will hold its own event on June 12, also in Los Angeles, called Ubisoft Forward Live.
Ubisoft will not go to E3 2023, but will hold its own event
No E3 this year for one of the most important studios in the gaming world. According to Ubisoft, the choice was dictated by the desire to “move in a different direction” and to organize its own live event called Ubisoft Forward, which will take place on June 12, also in Los Angeles. This way, Ubisoft will be able to show the his future projects to fans and the media in a more direct and personalized way.
Ubisoft has expressed its appreciation for the E3, calling it an event that has created “unforgettable moments throughout the industry over the years.” However, the company preferred to go its own way and not be bound by the format of E3 2023, which includes two days dedicated to business and two days open to the public.
Ubisoft’s decision is a major blow to E3 2023, which was hoping to revive the show after the 2020 edition was canceled and the 2021 digital release. So far, no major companies have confirmed their presence at E3 2023, e many wonder if the show will still make sense in an age where publishers can communicate directly with their fans through social media and streaming platforms.
Nintendo e Xbox have already announced that they will not participate in the Californian event this year. Adding up Ubisoft’s farewell, the blow for E3 could become really big. The fair will soon announce its lineup: which will have to be excellent to give up these big software houses.
