Ubisoft suspends sales in Russia to support Ukraine

Ubisoft is joining a growing list of gaming studios they are choosing to suspend sales of their products in Russia following the invasion of Ukraine. Last week, Ubisoft released a blog post detailing his support both for the people of Ukraine that for i Ubisoft team members. Today, Ubisoft has updated quel post.

Ubisoft also suspends sales in Russia

Ubisoft’s answer is that, for now, will suspend sales of its games in the country. Ubisoft did not report how long will it suspend them; we believe the company will withdraw its decision as soon as the conflict is over.

The decision to suspend sales puts Ubisoft alongside other videogame companies such as SHE, Sony, Rockstar, Take-Two Interactive, Microsoft and others who have decided to terminate their relations with Russia. Last week, Nintendo made the decision to put the eShop in maintenance mode for Russian players due to the suspension of the payment processing system used for the eShop in the region.

Meanwhile, Microsoft announced on March 4 that its approach would be twofold. It would have stopped selling new products e services in Russiaand would have suspended “many aspects” of his current business there.

While Ubisoft could be one of the last gaming studios to suspend sales, probably it won’t be the last company overall. Considering the number of other large studios and companies doing the same thing, we may see other companies following in the footsteps of all these large companies.

This could also depend on the actual duration of the conflict. Outside of the game, companies like Apple, Netflix Google, TikTok e Samsung suspended sales of products and services or restricted them in Russia. Most or all of this follows the sanctions imposed by the United States and fromEU to Russia in response to the invasion.

What’s next?

It is difficult to say what will come next. While the suspensions remain in place, Russian citizens will find almost impossible get products from any of these companies. However, with so many large studios taking a stand against Russia regarding the invasion, there is the potential for send a very strong message.

A message indicating that many people they are with Ukraine. For more information on Ubisoft’s post, you can consult the official website.
