The new Turquoise Revival Games management software puts us at the helm of a colony of productive Penguins intent on surviving the difficulties of life in the Arctic, among food shortages and killer whales. You read that right. But will having penguins as protagonists be enough to stand out from the crowd of CityBuilders out there?

In the world of United Penguin Kingdomnot too far from ours, humans have brought the Planet to global warming. The poor Penguin friends had to adopt interesting systems for keeping temperatures low necessary for their survival, also developing a technologically advanced and collaborative society.
The cooperation will be fundamental to exploit natural resources and to survive to numerous difficulties. The alte temperature risk altering the penguins' abilities, while killer whales e hungry thieving seals they represent constant threats.
Our task will be that of help the penguin community overcome these challenges. We will have to build a prosperous settlement, develop new technologies and become the best penguin kingdom of the world.

Why Penguins? Why not!
Like any self-respecting management software, the goal is to build a prosperous and happy kingdom for your penguins. You will have to collect resources, construct buildings, manage the population e climb the kingdom ranking. Only the most skilled and far-sighted will be able to become the new King of the United Penguins! In addition to everything you might expect from a title belonging to the genreUnited Penguin Kingdom boasts an interesting reputation mechanic between yours and other penguin colonies.
Forget the wars and power struggles typical of humans: Collaboration reigns in the United Penguin Kingdom. The different establishments do not compete with each other, but rely on reputation system and benefits to grow and prosper. Meet certain goals in time it will allow you to set an example for other penguins and get some interesting buffs. But obstacles are everywhere. In addition to general energy and nutrition difficulties that every self-respecting colony has, the game increases the dose with periods of famine, constant attacks by seals e destructive killer whales.
The seals they are always ready to steal the food accumulated by the factories, threatening the supplies and survival of the penguins. The killer whales instead they will not eat the penguins (thank goodness) but every now and then they will destroy the structures near the water, creating quite a few inconveniences.
Facing challenges and overcoming adversity is critical to the survival and growth of the penguin kingdom.
Maybe being cute and cuddly isn't enough
United Penguin Kingdom offers simple and classic gameplay, perhaps too much so? Veterans of the genre will not find particular stimuli compared to other titles belonging to the genre nor will they find too high a level of challenge. All things considered, the only real peculiarity of this game is the use of a funny and cute subject like that of the Penguins.
But we don't want to destroy their dreams (or yours). Discovering technologies, buildings and new resources as you progress through the game is very fun and stimulating. Even if there is no real campaign or objective other than “survive”, we are pushed to continue even if once we discovered all the characteristics, we found no incentive to replay it a second time.
From a technical point of view…
…United Penguin Kingdom really surprised us! While it's not a particularly large study (to put it mildly) Turquoise Revival Games did a great job. Textures, reflections and animations (really funny) are at the top and despite belonging to the CityBuilder/Management genre, in which the graphic element is never the priority, the attention to detail is truly high and appreciable.

Despite its flaws, United Penguin Kingdom is a carefully crafted title that offers a pleasant and at times relaxing gaming experience. We're not sure if veterans of the genre will be able to enjoy the novelty or a significant degree of challenge, but if you're new to the sector, dealing with cute Penguins and killer whales could be a lot of fun.
