The United States confirms the ban to Chinese companies such as Huawei e ZTEindeed they increase the dose: the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) has banned all Chinese components on the internet. The chair of the commission Jessica Rosenworcel he tabled the resolution last week, with three members of the Commission already appearing to agree to pass the ban by a majority.
The FCC confirms and extends the ban to Huawei and ZTE
In June 2020, the United States officially declared telecommunications companies Huawei and ZTE of the “national security risks“. We are not talking about ex-President Trump’s trade war against China, but about the Federal Communications Commission’s decision not to have Chinese technology on the internet. According to the FCC, theto the amount of American data that Chinese companies could handle pose a security risk.
Already at the time, companies declared that they had no other purpose than purely commercial ones for working in the United States. And the Chinese embassy in Washington has repeatedly accused the US government of implement these bans without any real evidence.
However, for two years now, Congress has allocated funds to facilitate the work of American telcos, to replace all Chinese structures in its network.
Last week, FCC President Jessica Rosenworcel filed a new ban proposal for block approval of any equipment for telecommunications presented by companies on the ban list. Including Huawei and ZTE.
A decision that seems definitive
Rosenworcel said he wanted to protect national security by “making sure we do not approve unreliable telecommunications equipment” in the United States. The senator Mark Warnerhead of the Senate Intelligence Commission, ha welcomed this position. Which with three members of the Commission already in agreement, will officially pass before mid-November, the date set to resolve the situation.
The Democrat-led FCC had previously blacklisted Huawei and ZTE in March 2021. Along with Hytera Communications Corp, Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co e Zhejiang Dahua Technology. And shortly thereafter he had begun the process of banning any future Chinese structural elements from the American networks.
The decision to ban Chinese companies from the US telecommunications sector looks set to remain. The hopes of those who wanted the Biden administration to be more open to dialogue have been disregarded.
The American internet will not have any Chinese elements in it. In a decided move for the national security according to the USA. But which China above all wants to protect economics interests. But beyond the reasons, the result now seems decided.
