The long-awaited announcement of the new has arrived WWE 2K23cover man’s reveal annex: John Cena (absolutely unwanted rhyme). The iconic wrestler will then be the protagonist of this year’s Showcase mode, with players reliving the career of the 16-time world champion, from his explosive debut in 2002, when he slapped Kurt Angle loudly and started the Ruthless Aggression Era, until the conquest of the sixteenth WWE title.
“It is a pleasure to tell my career story through the WWE 2K23 Showcase,” said John Cena. “The 2K team has done a fantastic job capturing and reinvigorating the WWE 2K franchise and I am honored to be featured on the cover of WWE 2K23.”
In addition to John Cena, the game will introduce new game modes (such as i WarGames) and will feature improvements to MyGM e MyFaction, who will be back again this year. The roster has also been expanded, which will present a mix between legends and today’s Superstars, and also announced the in-game debut of Bad Bunnyone of the most listened to music artists in the world.
From a technical point of view, however, the development team promises major graphical improvements with new animations, angles and incredibly realistic lighting. All features that had already amazed us in WWE 2K22 (our review here), but which could now reach new levels.
All new WWE 2K23: Showcase Mode will be dedicated to John Cena

- 2K Showcase Starring John Cena: Players will step into the ring boots of many of Cena’s fiercest competitors with one goal: to defeat the living legend. The Showcase mode, which last year was dedicated to Rey Mysterio, consists of a real interactive documentary. Players will be able to relive (and obviously replay) the most important moments of John Cena’s career, with smooth transitions between gameplay and real videos. An experience that we advise you to try.
- WarGames: absolute debut for a fan-favorite stipulation. 3v3 and 4v4 for single player or multiplayer in two side-by-side rings, surrounded by a double steel cage. Chaos and destruction are expected.
- MyGM: Players (up to 4) can take on the role of a General Manager (GM) of a roster and manage its shows, rivalries and budgets.
- MyFACTION: Featuring online multiplayer action, squad-building mode returns where players collect, manage and upgrade a variety of WWE Superstars and Legends to create their ultimate four-person faction.
- MyRISE: the career mode is also back in which the aspiring Superstars will have to make their way in the WWE world, between decisions that will influence the story and heart-pounding matches. Again this year, the MyRISE mode features two different stories: one for male wrestlers and one for female wrestlers.
- Universe: The ultimate WWE Universe sandbox that puts players in charge of their own version of the WWE. What’s new in the new Universe includes a reworked story system and much more.
- Creation Suite: the creation suite is also back which will allow you to design Superstars, GMs, arenas, entrances, move sets, belts and much more. The big news is that custom arenas are now playable online and advanced customizations have been added for Superstar revenue creation.
When does WWE 2K23 come out?
At the moment 2K and WWE have not formalized a definitive release date for WWE 2K23. Either way the game will be presto disponibile per PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One e PC (via Steam). Pre-orders are already open at this link.
Those who will pre-order the Standard Edition and Cross-Gen Digital Bundle by March 16or they will receive the Bad Bunny Bonus Pack. This includes the Bad Bunny singer as a playable character and a Ruby level Bad Bunny card for MyFACTION mode. The Bad Bunny Bonus Pack is also included in the Deluxe Edition and Icon Edition at launch.
