In the event of December 28, Xiaomi announced its new line of smartphones. With three devices all equally interesting, but different from each other. What are the differenze fra Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12X e Xiaomi 12 Pro? We compared them to understand it better.
Xiaomi 12, 12X and 12 Pro: the main differences
Comparing the technical data sheets is not always immediate. And it often does not say how substantial the difference is between one device and another. But in awaiting arrival in Italy of these devices (although perhaps the 12X may not arrive), let’s try to compare these smartphones in the most important aspects. In order to understand what to expect when we can finally try them live.
Display: what changes from one model to another?
Xiaomi has decided to equip the Xiaomi 12 display and the Xiaomi 12X version with the same display. Both therefore have a display AMOLED from 6.28 with update frequency a 120Hz. The resolution is from 2400 x 1080, with brightness from 1100 nit e colori a 12-bit. It will be protected by the resistant Corning Gorilla Glass Victuif it has the DisplayMate A + certification.
Instead, the Xiaomi 12 Pro’s display is a E5 AMOLED LTPO second generation, always with an update frequency a 120Hz but in this case it is variable. The resolution is 2K a 3200×1440 pixel (522 ppi). Brightness comes to 1500 nights and colors a 10-bit. Also in this case we will have the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
The processor: the 12X version just can’t keep up
Both Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro have the brand new chip Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. They are among the very first to have this new processor that promises performance of a new level. Instead, Xiaomi 12X has one Snapdragon 870. We are talking about a device of excellent workmanship, which withstands temperatures well and has excellent performance. But it will be less performing than the other top of the range (even if you will need a competent eye to notice it).
The camera: the differences between Xiaomi 12, 12X and 12 Pro
Also in this case, the equipment of Xiaomi 12 and 12X is the same. We find a main camera from 50MP Sony IMX766, accompanied by an ultra wide da 13MP and a telephoto from 5MP.
Instead Xiaomi 12 Pro has a triple 50MP camera, with the main sensor Sony IMX707, unpublished and which promises to take pictures with the 49% more light thanks to Pixel binning. It will also be capable of recording in 8K and slow motion up to 1,920 fps.
But everyone will use the new one Image Brain, a system that significantly improves the speed of shots: it opens 21.2% faster, shoots + 53.7% faster and improves the whole experience. Furthermore, thanks to CyberFocus (the autofocus created by Xiaomi) the smartphone recognizes people in the frame and focuses them autonomously.
Differences of the battery and charging of Xiaomi 12, 12X and 12 Pro
The Xiaomi 12 and 12X battery is from 4500mAh with fast charging a 67W. But only Xiaomi 12 supports wireless charging a 50W e reverse charging a 10W.
Xiaomi 12 Pro stands out by reaching the maximum charging speed: on battery from 4.600mAh recharges a 120W e wireless a 50W, sempre con reverse charging a 10W.
Price and availability
All three devices are currently available only in China. Global release information is not yet available. Although many analysts think that the 12X version may not arrive on the European market but instead be destined for an Asian distribution only.
Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro are available in colors Nero, Blu e Viola with glass back or in version verde with the back in vegan leather. This latest version is not available for Xiaomi 12X. All three smartphones arrive with MIUI 13.
The prices are relative only to China and in all likelihood will increase for the European market. But to get an idea of the proportion between the prices, Xiaomi 12X is the cheapest: it costs 3199 yuan (441,86 euro) in the 8 + 128GB version, 3499 yuan (483,29 euro) in version 8 + 256GB and 3799 yuan (524,73 euro) in 12 + 256GB version.
Xiaomi 12 will cost 3,699 yuan (512,76 euro) in the 8 + 128GB version, 3,999 yuan (554,34 euro) for the 8 + 256GB and 4,399 yuan (609,79 euro) for the 12 + 256GB one. The Xiaomi 12 Pro model is priced for the 8 + 128GB model is 4,699 yuan (651,38 euro), the 8 + 256GB 4,999 yuan (692,96 euro) and the 12 + 256GB one costs 5,399 yuan (748,41 euro).
Summary: what are the differences between Xiaomi 12, 12X and 12 Pro
Summing up, Xiaomi 12X has an older and less powerful processor, as well as not having wireless charging and the option for vegan skin. For the rest it is the same as Xiaomi 12. Which it shares with Xiaomi 12 Pro the processor and 50W wireless charging. But 12 Pro has a photographic department much better and record-breaking fast charging.
Xiaomi 12 Pro is clearly the best device, but if you are not interested in awesome cameras (that of the basic model is excellent for social networks) and you are not interested in i 120W charging, you can choose Xiaomi 12. Xiaomi 12X represents the option for those who want to save something (but perhaps it will not arrive in Italy).
These are the main differences between Xiaomi’s smartphones. But to really understand which one to recommend, we will first have to wait for them to arrive in Italy and try them: we will keep you updated.
