From November 20th, the channels YouTube of creators will have a new section called For youwhich will offer visitors a personalized playlist of content based on YouTube’s algorithm.
YouTube’s support account announced this in a post, explaining that the section will suggest “a variety of content from your channel to viewers based on their viewing history.”
How YouTube For You will work
Creators will be able to turn the feature on or off in the customization menu in their channel settings. They will also be able to choose what type of content to show in the For you section: short videos only, live or full videos, or a combination of these. They will also be able to decide whether to include all content or only the most recent ones.

The feature has been tested for months by YouTube, which previewed it on the Creator Insider channel six months ago. Initially the function was mandatory for creatorsbut now they will be able to choose whether to join or not.
The new For You section is clearly inspired by TikTok, the popular short video app that has won over millions of users around the world. YouTube has already tried to replicate TikTok’s success with the Shorts feature, which allows you to create and watch vertical videos of a few seconds, and with the ability to edit vertical videos. But the For You section is an original idea that fits the nature of YouTube, which hosts channels of different genres and formats.
