YouTube asks you to report videos created with artificial intelligence
YouTube has emphasized the importance of informing viewers about contents generated by artificial intelligence. The reason is that such content could “mislead viewers, particularly if they are unaware that the video has been altered or created synthetically.” YouTube plans to release updates in the coming months to inform users.
In addition to this news, YouTube will allow users to request the removal of content that “simulates an identifiable individual, including his or her face or voice.” The company specified that not all contents will be removed, as they will take into account different factors in request evaluations. These factors may include whether the content is parodic or satirical, if the person making the request can be easily identified, or if it involves public figures or well-known individuals. In this case you may require different treatment.
Additionally, YouTube has stated that there will be a similar process for i musical partners. These partners will be able to request the removal of AI-generated musical content that mimics an artist’s unique voice. Initially, requests will be available for labels or distributors representing the artists involved in YouTube’s first musical AI experiments.
As Rolling Stones notes, YouTube’s updated policies come at a time when Artificial intelligence has become a controversial topic in the entertainment industry. Hollywood strikes have discussed the topic, social media has tons of AI-generated content. YouTube had to take a stand and it seems they want to do so.
