With the release of The Boy and the Heron, has once again managed to establish itself on the film scene, this time even without resorting to any marketing campaign. We are talking about Hayao Miyazaki, the Japanese director and screenwriter capable, throughout his career, of creating true animated masterpieces. Now, after his latest success, still unreleased in Italy and available since 1 January 2024 in cinemas, the director Kaku Arakawa decided to pay homage to him, through a docuseries which sees him as the protagonist.

The news reached us on the occasion of Lucca Comics & Games 2023. When Gianmaria Tammaro announced the arrival of this docuseries, during the panel dedicated to Studio Ghibli. Are you curious to find out what this new series will be about? We can tell you that 10 Years with Hayao Miyazaki will be composed of 4 parts, 50 minutes each and will show the master of Japanese animated cinema dealing with his work, both at his home and at Studio Ghibli. Between one job and another, the director will tell some unexpected anecdotes and there will also be time to remove a few pebbles from his shoe, through some small criticism, of some of his colleagues. The series had already been broadcast in the past by the Japanese TV channel NHK.
The release date
We can tell you that you won’t have to wait long before watching this unmissable docuseries. 10 Years with Hayao Miyazaki will in fact be available on Sky Arte and NOW on 16 December.
