BYDthe Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) giant, closed 2023 with an extraordinary result: over 3 million vehicles sold worldwideconfirming itself as the leading global NEV manufacturer for the second year in a row.
Not only that: BYD entered the top ten of the world’s largest car manufacturers for the first time, dominating the Chinese market with its offer of quality cars and technology.
BYD’s 2023
In December alone, BYD sold 341,043 vehiclesrecording a growth of 45% compared to the same period of the previous year. The annual total has reached quota 3,024,417, with an increase of 61.9% compared to 2022. These numbers demonstrate the strong demand for new energy vehicles, both electric and hybrid, which BYD is able to satisfy with its range of innovative and sustainable products.
The company has not limited itself to the Chinese market alone, but has been able to expand internationally, exporting its vehicles to over 70 countries on 6 continents. The exports grew by 334.2% in 2023, reaching 242,765 units. Thanks to its technological prowess and ecological vision, BYD has won the trust of many global consumers, also gaining recognition from high-profile partners, such as the Volkswagen Group and Apple. Furthermore, BYD vehicles have won numerous awards and certifications for their quality, safety and design.
A diversified brand portfolio (and a greener future)
In 2023, BYD also consolidated its brand portfolio, which includes series Dynasty, Ocean, DENZA, FANGCHENGBAO e YANGWANG. These series cover different market segments, offering consumers a wide choice of new energy vehicles, from luxury to utility, from SUV to MPV.
In particular, the Dynasty and Ocean series scored 2,877,353 sales units, with a growth of 55.3% compared to 2022. DENZA, the brand born from the joint venture with Mercedes-Benz, sold 127,840 unitswith the DENZA D9 standing out as the best-selling MPV on the market.
Furthermore, the DENZA N7, BYD’s first intelligent vehicle, will soon receive an OTA update that will increase its functionality. Finally, YANGWANG and FANGCHENGBAO, the two new brands launched in 2023, have had excellent response from the public, with the YANGWANG U8 dominating the high-end NEV segment and the BAO 5 impressing with its off-road performance.
As well as celebrating the results of an incredible year just gone by, the company also looked to the future. BYD’s goal is in fact to use “technological innovations to improve the quality of life” of its customers, offering them cleaner and more efficient mobility solutions. BYD is also committed to contributing to fights against climate change, with his vision of “cooling the Earth by 1°C”.
