Peugeot Sport and Dassault Systèmes insieme

The promise of electric mobility and high performance in motorsports continues for brands Stellar. The hybrid hypercar from Peugeot Sport participates in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) 2024, highlighting the crucial importance of aerodynamics in a category subject to rigorous design and testing regulations.

Previously, Peugeot Sport had already successfully integrated CATIA applications Dassault Systèmes for mechanical design. Now, with more than 10,000 simulations performed using the company's advanced solutions, the airflow has been evaluated in detail, providing a comprehensive overview of the car's aerodynamic behavior in various conditions.

Through the use of advanced technology of Dassault Systèmesincluding the powerful SIMULIA PowerFLOW application on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, a detailed virtual twin of the Peugeot 9×8 Hybrid Hypercar to accurately predict the aerodynamic effects of different designs on performance, downforce and stability.

Peugeot Sport took full advantage of the connectivity of design and simulation data in the cloud, enabling more efficient and cost-effective decision making when evaluating and optimizing design concepts.

Olivier Jansonnie, Motorsport WEC Project Director at Stellantis, praised the central role of Dassault Systèmes in the partnership: “From day one, we could easily access and understand the results of the airflow simulation and make the first decisions that guided the rest of our projects. We were able to achieve 80-90% of our development with simulation alone.”

Which was echoed by Laurence Montanari, Vice President, Transportation & Mobility Industry of Dassault Systèmes, emphasizing the creation of a collaborative environment in the cloud for engineers from both companies: “Dassault Systèmes has created a cloud environment for collaboration between engineers of our two companies. They were able to simulate the aerodynamics of the PEUGEOT 9X8 Hypercar in all its phases. Our experts analyzed the simulation results and proposed improvements to meet the WEC requirements. Peugeot Sport has managed to develop a competitive and high-strength hypercar.”

Peugeot 9×8 Hybrid Hypercar

The Peugeot 9×8 Hybrid Hypercar is a racing car debuted in the FIA World Championship Endurance (WEC) 2022 and embodies the brand's Neo Performance vision. Fruit of the collaboration between Peugeot Sport and Peugeot Designthe 9X8 collects the winning legacy of the famous 905 and 908, winners of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1992, 1993 and 2009.

Under the bonnet, the 9X8 houses the revolutionary HYBRID4 500kW hybrid system which combines a powerful 2.6-litre twin-turbo V6 with a 200kW electric motor, offering exceptional performance supported by a high power density battery developed in collaboration with Saft . There 9X8 thus represents the pinnacle of technology and innovation, confirming the commitment of Peugeot for sustainable and exciting mobility.
