The new charging cable for electric cars from the German company Bosch promises to be a real revolution for the sector. Lightness, smart functions e flexibility are the aces in the hole of the new device for electric mobility.
Bosch’s cable is light, thanks to the absence of the control box, which is no longer needed. With a weight equal to only 3 Kg, it is 40% lighter than the average of conventional charging cables. This is a very sharp decrease that greatly improves the comfort of use.
The control and safety technology integrated in the charging cable makes monitoring power and charging temperature reliable and intelligent. The system is very flexible, due to the type 2 adapter and household plugs there is no need for a second charging cable, whether at home or on the go.
Uwe Gackstatter, president of the Bosch Powertrain Solutions division, said: “With this universal charging cable, Bosch makes electromobility even more convenient. We want to make the new cable standard for electric vehicles ”.
Features of the Bosch car charging cable
The German company plans to start distributing the cable starting in mid-2022. Here are the technical characteristics of the device, provided directly by Bosch:
The three-phase cable allows the so-called mode 2 and mode 3 of AC charging (alternating current) up to 22 kilowatts ensuring great flexibility of use. The technology built into each of the plugs makes the charging process safe and reliable. The type 2 connector in the vehicle contains the components for controlling and monitoring the charging power. At the other end of the cable, the household plug with adapter houses the temperature control and residual current device. This ensures that no overload or overheating occurs even during regular charging at a household power outlet with up to 2.3 kilowatts of charging power.
