L’Unicode Consortium, a non-profit organization that maintains the Unicode standard for representative text and icons in all modern software, announced the emoji who will join the roster of 2022. Let’s find out all the details together.
The new emojis coming in 2022
Emojis are representative icons used for to express O transmit feelings that would otherwise be very express through a text message. With Unicode 14.0, I’m coming 37 new emojis and others 75 skin tone variations. It will therefore reach a total of 112 new options to choose from.
This will bring the total number of options available to users to 3.633. Among the noteworthy new additions are the troll, the lip that bites, let it be say hello, face it dissolves, the eye that peeks, hearts with fingers (typical greeting Korean), the man pregnant, the lotto, the Hamsa, the ball a mirror, the nest with eggs and the one without.
These new emojis are scheduled for next year on all devices, so get ready to welcome them on your smartphones, computers and tablets. In addition to emojis, Unicode 14.0 also includes 838 new characters. These include 5 new scripts for a total of 159 scripts in total.
This, used to write the Toto language in northeastern India, will be one of the new scripts. There will also be the cipro-minoano used on the island of Cyprus, the Vithkuq used in Albania and theOld Uyghur, a historical script used in the Arabic languages. All of these new scripts will be on the list starting in 2022.
