For a while, Facebook has been allowing users to cross-publish Stories on its platforms. But now, apparently, the company is also testing the cross-posting of posts between Facebook and Instagram. An option especially useful for users active on both platforms, which will avoid having to upload the same content twice to different accounts. And not only. This novelty will allow Facebook to publish more photos and videos on Instagram, so as to be able to better compete with platforms such as TikTok and Snapchat. But let’s see in more detail how it all works.
Crossposting: simultaneous sharing on Facebook and Instagram arrives
These days Facebook revealed that the post cross-posting feature was rolled out on Instagram earlier this month. Clearly, for now it is only a test reserved for a selected group of users. If you are one of the lucky ones, then, you will see the function appear directly inside the post creation window. In particular, as you can see below, the indication appears next to that of changing the audience and creating an album.
Just tap the post cross-posting button to open a new screen that will allow you to decide whether to share the content on both Facebook and Instagram. An option that concerns exclusively the post that you are going not to share at that moment, mind you. Conversely, if you intend to automatically share posts on both platforms, just change the default settings from your account.
According to the company, users will be able to use cross-posting between platforms for single photos or videos, e album up to 10 photos (the maximum allowed by Instagram carousels). Other formats such as GIFs, Surveys, and Reels are not yet supported by the feature. But it is not certain that the option will not be made available soon for any type of content. For the moment, however, post cross-posting is only in the testing phase, but we don’t deny you that we can’t wait to have it available.
