Razer announces new partnerships to create a Product Category Rule for gaming devices.
The future of gaming is green: Razer’s commitment
Razer, the global leader in lifestyle gaming, today announces two new partnerships. The first with Underwriters Laboratories (UL), while the second with Panerai on the occasion of the RazerCon 2021. The latter is the virtual event dedicated to the brand’s gamer community. Millions of viewers around the world tuned in to the zero-emission livestream to watch the keynote of Min-Liang Tan, CEO of the company. The latter presented the sustainability initiatives in which Razer is committed.
“We have great ambitions in terms of sustainability, but we are also aware that although there is a lot we can do, it is not always possible to act alone,” says Min-Liang Tan. “That’s why collaboration is critical to us at Razer, and we’re thrilled to join forces with UL and Panerai on two very important initiatives that will not only benefit consumers, but the planet as well.”
The collaboration with UL, a leading independent organization in safety certifications, aims to develop new product category rules for gaming devices.
In fact, the sector currently it does not have a standard way of measuring the environmental impact of a product. For this reason, Razer plans to work with UL to create one. The two companies will initiate an industry-wide effort to identify key environmental impact indicators. These should be measured by all manufacturers looking for one Environmental Product Declaration for gaming devices.
The introduction of this type III Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) label will allow consumers to make more informed choices. They will be able to know that the gaming products they use to win in the game are also successful in safeguarding the environment.
The partnership with Panerai
The collaboration with Panerai, luxury watch manufacturer, aims to promote the conservation of the oceans. The two brands raised awareness among RazerCon spectators on the theme: “Make Time for our Ocean”. As part of this year-long campaign, the two companies will combine their efforts to improve ocean literacy. The companies will jointly support a lawsuit that will be revealed in March 2022. It has also been announced that, in 2022, it will hit the market a limited edition watch made by the two brands.
These announcements, which took place at RazerCon 2021, further expand the #GoGreenWithRazer initiative.
