Apple recently released a new version of Safari per macOS Big Sur e macOS Catalina which reverts the controversial changes to the tab UI into a more familiar layout seen in previous iterations of the web browser.
Safari 15.1 is available for macOS Big Sur and Catalina
Available now for macOS Big Sur e Catalina, Safari 15.1 reverses UI design decisions introduced at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June and then rolled out to developers with the first beta versions of macOS Monterey this summer.
More specifically the section “Compact”, previously set as Safari default, has been reset to one plus traditional tab bar layout “separate”.
Apple tried to change the again conventional design web browser by implementing a different format. The format now carries the tabs in line with the URL bar of Safari, i navigation controls of the browser and the bookmarks bar. The cards were outlined as individual buttons separated by small spaces.
Nicknamed vista “Compact”, the redesign did not break the hearts of the public. Many public developers and beta testers have complained, stating that the changes were confusing and added little to the user experience.
Responding to the feedback, Apple began to withdraw some of the more obvious changes in the latest beta releases. The company eventually backed off and last week restored the display of the tabs of macOS Big Sur – renamed “Separate” – come default del browser.
The tab bar function that change colour Safari has been permanently reassigned to vista “Compact”. This feature is now available as option in the settings menu of the app. Safari 15.1 for macOS Big Sur and Catalina arrives two days after launching the same browser with macOS Monterey.
