Tomb Raider, by Core Design and Eidos Interactive, was launched for the first time in Europe on October 25, 1996 for Sega Saturn. And then in North America on November 14, 1996. Since that time the series has released more than 20 titles and sold more than 85 million copies. A success that allowed him to enter The World Video Game Hall of Fame at the Strong Museum in Rochester, New York. And now, 25 years later, Square Enix, Eidos and Crystal Dynamics have chosen to celebrate the anniversary of the franchise with the release of new titles and an anime series on Netflix.
Rise of the Tomb Raider, the first title in the saga, will therefore be available for free from November 1st to 14th. And as if that weren’t enough, the franchise will arrive on Nintendo Switch with the release of two titles. Add to this then Tomb Raider Reloaded, the arcade-style action game that will launch on iOS and Android next year. In short, between titles available for the most avid gamers and Netflix productions, Lara Croft can be said to be more than happy to celebrate her 25 years in this way. And we too.
