Lucca Comics and video games: between eSports and special events

The Lucca Comics & Games has now ended and the most important national fair dedicated to comics, video games and the whole nerd universe this year was a success, with more than 90,000 total visitors. An excellent milestone considering also the year of forced absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic. There were many events during the fair, but let’s take a look at everything that revolved around video games at Lucca Comics & Games 2021.

Lucca Comics: all events dedicated to video games

Bandai Namco

One of the unmissable appointments for gaming enthusiasts was undoubtedly the physical stand of Bandai Namco, whose presence had already been confirmed several days before the start of the fair. The company brought games, collectibles and more with the labels Bandai Namco Entertainment e Bandai Spirits, to the delight of all fans of the publisher’s stable.

The stand was set up at the Cavallerizza and welcomed all the fans willing to try the latest news from Bandai Namco Entertainment. Space was also given to collectors, however, with the exhibition of the new collectible figures of Banpresto and Bandai’s toys.

The initiative was particularly interesting Ichiban Kuji a sort of lottery that offered unobtainable and exclusive objects as a stake. The products have two main characteristics: they cannot be found or purchased in any other way and they have the quality of Banpresto products. This year’s sets were dedicated to Dragon Ball, Demon Slayer e My Hero Academia.

Obviously there were also more traditional promotions, near the two official stores: that of Bandai Namco Entertainment with many special discounts, only for Lucca Comics & Games, and that of Bandai Spirits with collectible figures and novelties of toys. Finally, in the part dedicated to video games and entertainment, it was possible to try, on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, some titles such as “Tales of Arise”, “Scarlet Nexus” or “Little Nightmares II”.

Valuing

It was the first appearance of Valuing in the frame of Lucca Comics. This title is still relatively young, but it has already won over a large plethora of fans. It is no coincidence that Riot Games, with the collaboration of ProGaming Italia, has given life to the competitive scene of VALORANT in our country in the form of an amateur championship, the Tormenta Circuit.

The appointment with Valorant in Lucca took place in the Cathedral on October 31st, with a day full of guests and discussions and in which the 2 finalist teams of the Tormenta Circuit faced each other on stage in a spectacular Best of 5, finally decreeing the first prize of the competition (which began on 12 October).

The event was broadcast on the official Instagram and Twitter profiles of the Italian Esports Open and the Instagram and Twitter of Agent’s Range Italia. In the end it was the team who won Sports Athlete, in the final against AR Esport, winning the title of champion of the circuit and winning important points for the general classification of the second season.

Pokémon

How could a Pokémon-themed event be missing? In the splendid setting of the deconsecrated church of S. Romano and within the Italian Esports Open program, an international eSport event organized by ProGaming Italia e ESL, Saturday 30 October took place on Pokémon Lucca Party, a full day of Pokémon-themed events in the company of the Pokémon Millennium community.
