The PS5 turns one year old, and to celebrate the event Jim Ryan talks about the most played games on the console: most are not exclusive
Congratulations to the fifth PlayStation console, that officially turns one year old November 12 in the United States, while for the rest of the world it will be November 19. Going back to the moments before the “birth” of PS5, we can very well remember the desperation of the players in booking the console, and also the creation of a real market on the sale of the same, thus giving rise to a whirlwind rise of those people who are referred to as “scalpers”, ie the most cheeky retailers who inflate prices out of all proportion on major buying and selling sites. While PlayStation is renowned for its stock of titles decorated with exclusives, it is necessary to know that the most played games on PS5 are not actually many of them.
PS5: among the most played games, few exclusives
On PlayStation Blog, Jim Ryan recalls the launch of PS5, thanking all users who got to get the console. In addition to having released incredible titles such as Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Returnal and Deathloop, other studios have also joined the Sony teams, such as Firesprite, Housemarque, but also the promising Bluepoint Games and the one that will bring the main PlayStation exclusives to PC. , the Nixxes study. Still other titles are in development, including Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok, both of which have been postponed to 2022; and perhaps even these references are at the basis of why the most played games on PS5 do not include many exclusives.
The CEO also includes a list of the most played games during this year, based on over 4.6 billion hours recorded:
- Fortnite
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
- FIFA 21
- NBA 2K21
- Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
- Destiny 2
- MLB The Show 21
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Demon’s Souls
- NBA 2K22
So let’s see a rather small number of exclusives: in addition to Demon’s Souls, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, other games are available on virtually every platform, and almost all based on online mode. However, counting as approx 13 million players have had the opportunity to get a PS5, the presence of two single player and even exclusive titles can still be considered a goal to be happy with.
Jim Ryan also says Sony is working with other gaming houses to create over 360 titles on PS5, and also another 25 developed only from PlayStation Studios. Finally, Ryan tries to reassure players about the constant shortage of PS5, claiming to be extremely focused on producing more units.
