Microsoft goes on and on and makes tons of other original Xbox games backward compatible for modern consoles
Microsoft added today as well 70 original Xbox 360 and Xbox games backwards compatible on Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S. New additions playable for the first time on its most modern consoles include the entire Max Payne franchise, FEAR and Skate 2. Today’s new backwards compatible titles (full list posted at the bottom of this page) include over 20 Xbox games originals like Dead or Alive Ultimate, Star Wars: Jedi Knight II, Star Wars: Starfighter and the Otogi franchise.
Xbox is enriched with new backwards compatible games to play
Today, over 30 games also receive the Xbox Series X / S FPS Boost, a system-wide feature that increases performance in certain backward compatible titles, without requiring changes to the original game code. Among them we have 11 new backward compatible games such as FEAR, Binary Domain and Nier and 26 existing ones including the entire Gears of War franchise, Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Dragon Age: Origins, Dead Space 2, Dead Space 3, Alan Wake and Sonic Generations. Additionally Starting today, FPS Boost will also be available for 33 titles via Xbox Cloud Gaming that were previously enhanced on Xbox Series X / S, including Fallout 4, Fallout 76 and The Evil Within 2.
Peggy Lo, head of the Xbox backward compatible games program, said this will be the latest update for backwards compatibility of old titles on new consoles due to several constraints. “As we continue to remain focused on preserving and improving the art form of games, we have reached the limit of our ability to bring new games to the past catalog due to licensing, legal and technical constraints.”
