Call of Duty: with Ricochet cheaters will be banned from the entire series

The security of Call of Duty’s Ricochet anti-cheat system is updated: it will be able to deprive cheaters of access to all games

A few weeks ago Activision launched a war on cheaters, announcing the implementation of the Ricochet anti-cheat system in Call of Duty Vanguard. A few days after the announcement, it was discovered how the software had been leaked and then at the mercy of potential hackers and crackers, who could have studied it to devise new ways by which to circumvent this new system. However, the spread was following a precise plan of the company, who later stated that he only made an initial version of Ricochet available.

In this way, in fact, it would have understood the weakest and most easily culpable points, and then acted accordingly in making it even more impregnable. The cheaters were therefore real testers, and only got a small advantage as regards the version of Ricochet available at the release. Now, the system is updating again, and will also bring some pretty important news on how incorrect players will be handled.

The Ricochet system will make cheaters disappear from every Call of Duty

In a new post published on the Call of Duty official website blog, the team in the anti-cheat department Ricochet released an update on security measures, along with upgrades for new anti-cheating technology. Among the additions, there are also changes that have been introduced in the security policy in Call of Duty Vanguard, where it is now stated how, in extreme cases concerning cheating, it is possible to get to permanent bans and that extend even beyond the title specific game that was being played. Textually, it is described as “permanent suspensions are lasting and final, and can be applied in past, present, and future titles belonging to the Call of Duty franchise ”.

In the post, the study explains that these types of interventions will only be made when they do a constant and repeated violation of security policies, explicitly mentioning in-game cheating. The same thing can happen to players who will try to hide their identity and that of the devices with which they are using the game. Obviously, there are still some temporary suspensions, lasting for 48 hours up to two or more weeks, depending on the gravity of the infringement; in these cases, however, players will be able to re-enter the game once the suspension period has ended.

So Activision’s battle towards cheating continues more and more ferociously; we will remain to see if it will be enough, and in what direction it will lead its titles.
