Amazon allegedly hid some cases of COVID-19 among employees of one of its warehouses in California. For such failure, the American giant will be forced to pay one fine of 500 thousand dollars for endangering the health of its workers. With the failure to report cases of COVID-19, in fact, Amazon has not complied with a rule that came into force last year for companies operating in the Californian territory. In fact, companies are obliged to inform employees that they have been exposed to COVID-19 and to notify the health authorities.
Amazon has already received criticism for handling Covid-19 in the US
It is not the first time that Amazon has received sanctions or even just criticism related to COVID-19 and the treatment of cases during the pandemic. In Michigan, for example, some Amazon employees have made a similar case public. Even then, in fact, Amazon would not have reported some cases of positive in the warehouses (in Michigan, however, a law similar to the Californian one was not approved). Even Amazon employees of the state of New York they have organized a protest in the past. In this case, the unrest was related to how the company has treated Covid-19 cases and the pandemic.
There is no obligation to wear masks for vaccinated people
As for the management of business activities, Amazon has the obligation to wear masks was lifted for vaccinated employees. According to initial information, the company aims to restore normal working activities in the company starting from 2022.
