The Drone Racing League (DRL), the world’s leading professional drone racing organization, today announced a new partnership with Nacon, manufacturer of premium gaming peripherals, under the RIG and Nacon brands. Named as the League’s Official Gaming Headset & Controller, Nacon will provide the world’s best drone pilots the RIG Commander PRO headphones for the simulated races of the 2021-22 season of the DRL World Championship starting tomorrow night at 20:00 on NBCSN and Twitter.
Combining eSports with real-life drone racing in order to create a new era for sports, the virtual part of the DRL Season will be marked by the use of the RIG Commander PRO headset, on its 10th anniversary as the premier audio solution for professional gaming leagues. For the next five weeks, the DRL Pilots will compete using the RIG Commander PRO, the headset that brought the “eSports look” to life with its first-class audio performance. Pilots will compete in intense digital drone races on DRL SIM, the latest flight simulator for FPV (First Person View) drones. Fighting in spectacular SIM maps, pilots will aim for the finish as fast as possible and collect equal points for physical DRL drone races, emphasizing that, for the first time ever, an athlete must dominate both esports and competition in real life to be crowned World Champion.
“Drone Racing League Pilots are at the pinnacle of our sport and require the best in class equipment for racing. Flying with Nacon’s professional headphones will keep our best drone pilots connected during the eSports portion of our season “, said Ari Mark, DRL SVP of the Head of Partnership Development.
Throughout the 2021-22 season, commercial spots, streaming promotions and unboxing activities will showcase how fans can gear up and get good using RIG and Nacon. The league will also release a new digital video series called “Sounds of DRL” which will broadcast the best audio of the DRL SIM race and victories.
“It is fitting that on the 10th anniversary of the launch of the leading audio solution for eSports, the RIG Commander PRO is used in DRL, the next evolution of eSports, which combines live competition with virtual SIM racing,” said Gregory Morquin, Business Director of Nacon Global.
RIG has been the market leader in the gaming headset industry for nearly a decade, developing ultralight and comfortable peripherals that deliver superior audio for the most competitive gamers. Purchased by Nacon in 2020, RIG now enriches Nacon’s premium range of gaming accessories including pro gaming controllers and fight sticks. Gamers who want to fly like DRL pros can connect their RIG headphones and Nacon controllers to the DRL SIM game, which is the fastest and easiest way for aspiring pilots to level up with drones on PlayStation, Xbox, Steam and Epic Games. The best drone pilots in the world train on the DRL SIM and are even enlisted in the DRL through the SIM.
Fans can tune in to the DRL World Championship Season 2021-22 Wednesday night at 8pm on NBCSN and Twitter. The eSports portion of the season will air live weekly from November 17 to December 15.
