On 1 December 2021, Cinecittà Game Hub was presented, a startup accelerator in the videogame world that sees ten videogame development companies as protagonists together with Cinecittà Spa. Acer joins the initiative by supplying the participating startups with ten Acer and Predator branded PCs as well as monitors. The program will start on January 10, 2022 and will end on April 22, focusing on the business preparation of the participating companies and articulating itself in weekly appointments that will develop three distinct paths: Business, Production and Inspirational. In addition to tutors, the program will make use of Italian and international experts in their respective fields, to offer startups the best possible preparation.
Training activities will have located at the Cinecittà Spa facilities and are supported by the Lazio Region and the Ministry of Culture-Cinema Direction, in collaboration with IIDEA, the association that brings together companies in the videogame sector operating in Italy.
Cinecittà Game Hub: Acer’s point of view
“The world of gaming represents a condensation of economic, employment, educational, relational and entertainment opportunities, with an important impact on society and the economy”, commented Tiziana Ena, Acer PBU and Greek Market Head. “Video games are not just a fun tool, they also help develop problem solving skills, make decisions quickly and learn specific skills. It is also a sector that has a significant impact on the Italian economy, with a turnover of almost 2.2 billion euros in 2020, which grew by + 21.9% compared to 2019 and doubled compared to 2016 “.
In fact, in Italy the gaming industry has 160 companies, 1,600 employees (of which 79% are under 36 years old), 90 million euros in turnover. It is still a young industry, but with significant growth and innovation rates as well as with a natural international vocation, given that 94% of the turnover of companies and professionals operating in the development of consumer video games comes from the international market.
Acer will provide participants with PCs and monitors from its comprehensive offering for the gaming world. First of all, the range of Predator devices, which meets all the needs of hardcore gamers, with PCs and monitors designed by enthusiasts for enthusiasts. These are products that stand out for their exceptional performance and an engaging user experience, which not surprisingly earned Predator the prestigious Red Dot Brand Award, awarded for the first time to a gaming brand. With the motto “In search of good design and creativity”, the Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design rewards the brands with the best design and the best creative projects, selecting them among the designers, agencies and businesses around the world.
For gamers looking for a more affordable device without sacrificing performance and exceptional graphics, the Acer Nitro family offers all the power needed for uncompromising gameplay, combined with large storage capacity and advanced thermal balancing. Finally, Aspire 7 responds to the needs of those looking for a slim and elegant device that combines the versatility of a PC that can be used on the move without sacrificing the power, connectivity and graphics required for an immersive gaming experience.
The ten startups that will participate in the initiative have been selected with a public call and during the four months of the program will be able to strengthen their productive and entrepreneurial capacities, while carrying out the development of their own projects. The experience will end with a demo day during which the projects will be presented to an audience of publishers and investors.
