Developed by SuperPAC and distributed by THQ Nordic, This is The President is the story that depicts the continuous conflict between fate and human ambitions: in our review we will find out more about what it is
Humanity has always needed to a leading figure, regardless of the epochs or the place of origin. And everyone, for better or worse, sooner or later wondered what life would be like if you were in the position of having enormous power at your disposal, which could affect a people, entire nations or even the whole world.
And it’s not just the idea of identifying with a role of such importance that it is addictive and attracts most, but also the types of background that one would find oneself exploring: think of the numerous mysteries of politics, the palace intrigues that have always been inherent in society, even in the largest and most forgotten ones, since the prelude to hierarchies. The human being lives for domination and complacency.
Finding ourselves in a world now established by precise figures, these needs find an outlet in less harmful aspects for social balance, through games of strategy, war, politics, which go to alleviate this eternal abstinence and will to power of man. In addition to being faced with historical or economic management, there is also the opportunity to find the so-called “government simulators” less based on management, and decidedly more oriented towards narrative experiences.
The management of a city or an empire takes a back seat, and the player will be guided only by his own entrepreneurial aims and ideological convictions; the ultimate goal will be your own victory and survival. In This is The President, our destiny will be what will lead us to launch ourselves into the treacherous American political world, and with this review we will see what kind of challenge we will face, playing the role of a businessman who hides more than one. skeleton in his closet.
President in name and in fact
We will begin our review of This is The President with a rather famous warning in the East: everything that thrives is doomed to die. From the very beginning, we will impersonate what the characters will refer to by various names, going from the more youthful “Mr. P ”to the dubious nickname“ Coyote ”. We will impersonate a man with a thousand resources and ten thousand subterfuges, that in the course of his life he has had the opportunity to generate by himself a more than enviable fortune. This same fortune, however, will have to be sacrificed once you become the most important person in all of the United States of America, and only to save your skin.
In This is The President we will find ourselves in a sort of videogame House of Cards, starting however from the night in which we will become the President-elect. Our goal will be obtain immunity, to be able to shake off the numerous and nefarious actions of which we have been authors in the past. Between corruption, money laundering, ill-concealed crimes and backstabbing, we will discover that we have combined cooked and raw ones, and eventually we will also be able to express one brazen pride in having performed these actions without ever having been caught red-handed.
All points in talk – Review This is The President
To obtain immunity we will have as our overriding need that of change the Constitution, inserting the so-called “28th Amendment”, which states that “no president of the United States will be tried after the end of his mandate for actions carried out before the end of the mandate itself”, thus guaranteeing us once and for all an existence untouchable by any judge or Court of Justice. Clearly, changing a charter as important as the United States Constitution will not be a small thing, and to do this we will have to arm ourselves with various resources: it will not only conquer Congress, but also the benevolence of the people.
Also, as President you will need to stay consistent with the stated words during their own speeches. It will be through them that we will go to make various promises and, if not kept, they will end up prematurely and inexorably sinking our political career. Promises will be an important factor in keeping up the approval rating that the American population will have towards us, and also for this reason the more we do, the more complex it will be to manage them.
From the night our election crowns, we will be given the opportunity to compose our speeches, but we will still have to go to measure well the words used. We could say we want to conquer Mars, or to include black personnel at the head of our staff, or to regulate advertising and video games. Ultimately, it will all serve to distract the general public from our biggest challenges, including the Federal Prison’s escape from any lawsuit. We will not know immediately what charges will be attributed to us in This is The President, as they will reveal themselves in the course of history, and therefore we will avoid delving into the theme too much during the review.
Bling Ring Presidenziale – Review This is The President
In forming our presidential team, we will have to carefully choose who to position and in which role. Each character will have his character, and his abilities and soft-skills will be conditioned by it, together with the type of life that everyone has had and will lead. We will be accompanied by two of the figures closest to us, la nostra First Lady Ellie, shrewd, capable and rarely even a little frivolous woman, and ours Vice President Tony Was, a not too witty man, fresh from his career in the FBI and determined to fight the establishment, who will often find himself investigating unlikely plots or dragging us into trouble because of some of his vices or clumsy mess.
The rest of the entourage will then be outlined in various branches: it will be important to have people with excellent dialectics, able to save us from the most uncomfortable questions of journalists, but also able to spread false news for create havoc among political enemies. We will also have to keep at our side people capable of juggling the bureaucratic aspects and with strong persuasive skills, and even individuals who, if necessary, use more “direct” and decidedly unorthodox means.
To spy on the activities of our rivals or seek out compromising information, we can certainly count on some of the most expert hackers who have ever set foot on the darkweb. Any person who will be hired outside of our “official” team will have to be paid out of our pocket for his services, and if he is dissatisfied he could also expose some demands regarding his salary, or the position in which to work. But let’s remember that we are the President, we are the law. Do we really want to put our feet on our heads? Well, it will be up to us to decide. And considered as the power of choice is a key part of a management software, in the next section of our review we will see how This is The President behaves in this respect.
Live to Work – This is The President Review
Our mandate will start from 2020 to then end in 2024 (overcoming any impeachment attempts or the possible loss of mid-term elections), and the evolution of the country will be another aspect to take into account. Being at the head of the largest nation in the world, we will have to deal with various situations in which we will have to make decisions that potentially would change the course of the entire world situation: between CEOs of various companies and industries, more or less relevant heads of state, wars and revolutions in remote areas of the globe, our every intervention could alter the political and social balance.
If there comes a time when we find a certain solution to a problem or assignment obvious, it will be better think again carefully first and check that you have chosen the right staff, in case they are also required in the mission. The game itself warns several times that it will not always be possible to have an optimal ending, and it will be necessary to compromise several times that will not protect us from collateral damages. While keeping promises will be an important aspect, marrying a certain political party won’t do much for our career. Yet, despite this, the game will want to push us rather insistently to embrace one of the political ideas on offer.
However, everything can be determined on the basis of the type of advantage that this could bring in view of our ultimate goal. During our time in the White House, we will receive proposals of all kinds: a series of small assignments, both bizarre and dramatic and disturbing, which will sometimes require a simple affirmative or negative answer, to then know the consequences towards the end of the month. The increase in stress due to the great responsibilities and decisions that will be faced will be a problem that should not be underestimated.
Obliging a subordinate a betray their principles will be the primary source that will add stress points, and to avoid fractures within the team, hatred of the President himself or worse, in the game we will be given the opportunity to send the most exhausted members on vacation, or get them high in some way. This will have to be done before theirs psychological stability reaches the limit, and leads them to take actions that could harm us.
The holiday will take a month, and later on you can be distracted from your worries through alternative and shorter routes, such as a visit to the casino, or from some consultant who can pacify souls. Obviously, all of this will still have a price, and will weigh on our earnings.
The aestheticism of the politician – Review This is The President
Going to analyze the visual and musical elements, the game interface has an elegant and formal look, and the various text boxes within the game are characterized by accelerated animations by holding down the right mouse button. The text in some situations appears decidedly too small, especially when reading various documents. Much appreciated it is the artistic aspect of the game: some “cutscenes” have been inserted with various hand-drawn and dubbed-style scenes, which appear in the most salient moments of the game.
Within the soundtrack available to This is The President will be omnipresent one jazz song playlist which in the long run will be rather repetitive, even if it is occasionally interrupted by any themed jingles during the holiday period. The difficulty set for the review of This is The President has always remained on a normal level, as the title already appears to present a fair level of challenge, based on the amount of satisfaction that you get or lose during your term as President.
He lost… But he played to win
Concluding our review, we can say that This is The …
