Klonoa Phantasy Reverie: Bandai Namco has renewed the trademark, new game coming?

Bandai Namco has filed a trademark for Klonoa Phantasy Reverie, which gives hope for a new game in the platform series

A brand for “Klonoa Phantasy Reverie SeriesWas spotted in the UK, sparking a series of rumors about a new remastered collection or a new game. It’s been over 10 years since we last saw Klonoa, with the last title being launched in 2008 for Wii (it was a remake of the first game in the series). The saga has since disappeared from the radar, but it looks like it could soon make a comeback if the rumors are to be believed. Let’s see all the details about it in the next lines of this article.

Klonoa Phantasy Reverie: it is not the first time that “empty” trademarks have been filed but there is still hope for a new game

As reported by VGC, a trademark for the series Klonoa Phantasy Reverie has been filed and appears in the UK Intellectual Property Office and that could give hope for a new game theme. The brand was reportedly filed on December 17 and is listed as belonging to Bandai Namco Japan. The trademarked list has been filed in the category video games, which should eliminate any worries whether it’s some sort of TV show or merchandising.

It is interesting to note that a trademark apparently related to Klonoa was already filed in September. The brand was registered in Japan for “Waffuu Encore” e “1&2 Encore“. Encore is the title Bandai Namco has used for the remaster of the series in Japan in recent years, and Waffuu is Klonoa’s slogan, leading many to reasonably link the two facts.

It is certainly not the first time that in recent years something related to a remaster of Klonoa has been sighted. In 2019, Bandai Namco has registered trademarks for Klonoa Encore, Mr Driller Encore, Splatterhouse Encore and Genpei Touma Den Encore. Nothing came out of those brands at the time, but with subsequent registrations of the Klonoa brand taking place in subsequent years, it seems likely that we will soon see some remaster.

As for the games in the collection, it looks like they will be Door to Phantomile e Lunatea’s Veil, respectively the first and the second game. It is unclear whether the first game will be the original PlayStation version or the Wii remake, but the use of “1 & 2 Encore” makes it clear which games are included.
