Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive says the acquisition of Zynga consolidates the brand’s leadership position in the mobile gaming sector. The operation cost $ 12.7 billion.

With an official announcement arrived today – January 10 – Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that it has acquired Zynga. The brand, primarily known as the publisher of Grand Theft Auto, believes the move creates “one of the largest publicly-traded interactive entertainment companies in the world.”
that’s how Strauss Zelnick, CEO di Take-Two, commented on the acquisition:
“We are thrilled with this move which significantly diversifies our businesses and strengthens our leadership position in the world of mobile gaming. In addition, Zynga has a highly talented and experienced team. We look forward to welcoming them into the Take-Two Interactive family ”.
Enthusiasm also shared by Frank Gibeau, CEO of Zynga, which states:
“Combining Zynga’s experience in mobile platforms with Take-Two’s capabilities will allow us to further advance our mission of connecting the world through games.”
For those not too familiar with the world of gaming – what are you doing here? – Take-Two Interactive is a hugely popular brand for publishing a slew of titles including BioShock, Borderlands, Civilization, Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption. Likewise, Zynga is responsible for some of the most popular mobile games out there such as Words With Friends and the Farmville series.
Moreover, the brand is also working on a game for smartphones and Nintendo Switch called Star Wars: Hunters. The first trailer was released just last month, while the title will see the light in the course of 2022.
