L’Apps on Twitter it has always been known for the conciseness of its contents. Originally, tweets were limited to a maximum of 140 characters, and then became 280 in 2017. Now, however, the platform seems intent on exploring new types of content, allowing users to write long articles. Thus comes the function “Twitter Articles“, Identified for the first time by the App expert Jane Wong. So let’s find out what it is.
Twitter: App launches a feature to write articles
Expert Jane Wong recently unveiled a hidden menu on the Twitter website dedicated to the new “Articles” feature. And while no specific details have been given, it’s pretty obvious that the option will allow users to write articles without having to worry about the 280 character limit. A screenshot shared by Wong, in fact, clearly shows the function that allows you to “Create an article on Twitter”. And that also means that the option could be made available for all accounts, and not just for selected groups, as often happens on the Twitter App.

In short, if the function were really released, it would represent an incredible evolution for the Twitter App, which has always been linked to the maximum limit of characters for its contents. That said, it is undeniable that the platform has tried to overcome this limit in the past. In 2020, for example, it released the ability to share tweets as “continuous threads”. In this way, users can attach multiple tweets to the same conversation, thus expanding the number of characters available. But the “Twitter Articles” feature represents something even more complex. If users have the ability to write articles, then the App could compete directly with other blogging platforms come Medium.
Beyond this, it is also to be seen whether Twitter will be interested in monetizing from these publications. But given how Super Follow or Twitter Blue works, it’s very likely that it will. In any case, if it were really possible to write articles on the social network, we would be really happy.
